As a result the diatoms develop colonies of various thickness. This process is associated with both the reproductive phase in M. moniliformis ontogenesis and peculiarities of reproduction in diatoms.Молодые клетки Melosira moniliformis, образовавшиеся из ауксоспор старой генерации, способны вновь давать ауксоспоры и более крупные молодые клетки. В результате образуются колонии разной толщины. Этот процесс связан с репродуктивной фазой онтогенеза данного вида, а также с особенностями размножения диатомовых водорослей.ru
