Their main population is shomn to be concentrated along the northern coast of the bay, near the village of Mezhvodnoe and near the Tarkhankut peninsula. The total stock of Mytilus Linne is estimated at 500 thous. tons. There is a tendency of the stock to a decrease, that requires conducting conservancy measures in the Karkinitian bay aquatorium.С помощью подводного аппарата «Тинро-2» и подводной лаборатории «Бентос-300» изучено распределение мидий в Каркинитском заливе. Показано, что основные поселения этого моллюска сосредоточены вдоль северного побережья залива у пос. Межводное и у Тарханкутского полуострова. Общий запас мидий оценивается в 500 тыс. т. Отмечена тенденция к снижению запасов, что вызывает необходимость охранных мероприятий в Каркинитском заливе.ru
