Abstract

Охарактеризовано пространственное распределение нефтяных агрегатов, полиэтиленовых пленок, полистироловых шариков, пластмасс, пенопласта и других химико-механических контаминантов в различных акваториях Мирового океана.

Description

Qualitative and quantitative distribution of various chemo-mechanical contaminants (oil aggregates, plastic sheets, polystyrene spherules, plastic pieces, etc.) has now been described for a number of aquatoria. Oil aggregates were found to be spread nearly everywhere, the purest waters being those surrounding Antarctic Continent. Different polymeric materials are found to be differently spread in a number of regions. Due to its optimum illumination and temperature, as well as, comparatively higher content of oxygen and biogenic elements, the surface layer favours settling and development of specific periphyton on the above contaminants. This periphyton is basically formed by the attached organisms (bacteria, algae, bryozoa, gooseneck barnacle), among which some motilling forms find Shelter (polychseta, isopoda, mollusca), and where heustaly organisms (glaucus, halobates, flying fishes) their sex products.
