Прослежена зависимость между содержанием кобальта в воде и продукцией кобаламинов бактериальными сообществами. Наблюдалось ослабление биосинтетической активности бактерий в расчете на единицу биомассы от высоких широт океана к более низким.

Analysis of experimental data on biosynthetical activity of sea bacteria in cobalamines and occurence of auxotrophic bacteria and of some publication data on cobalt and vitamin, B12 content in water is given to reveal the basic tendencies of bacteria to contribute to the cobalt, biogeochemical cycle in the Black, Mediterranean and Carribean Seas and open regions of the tropical Atlantic. Approximate values are obtained on cobalt consumption by bacteria biomass in the cobalamine synthesis as well as on its transition to the next trophical level (in the result of eating away by microzooplankton) and cobalt sinking to the bottom with excretes in different geographical regions. The biogenic migration of Co is assumed to be one of factors accounted for the relative impoverishment of waters and enrichment of fine argillaceous silts in the central pelagic regions.
