Pinealectomy-depedent artificial hypofundction of pineal organ caused the lowering of fish locomotor activity, disturbances of schooling behaviour, photo- and reotaxis. Intensification of skin pigmentation and quantitative growth of polymorphonucleus leucocytes and of oocytes at the higher stages of maturation were discovered in pinealectomed fishes. These data show the important regulatory role of pineal organ in the organism life as a whole and perspectives of pineal regulation in fish farming.
