Abstract

Description

The geometrical morphometric methods combine a multivariate statistics and visible shape changes (transformation greeds) to study the phenotypic variation. In this method, the relative locations of a set of individual “landmarks” that are biologically homologous, are convert into a set of ordinary biometric variables (shape coordinates). The methodological approaches of geometric morphometrics make use of 2D and 3D coordinate data to describe size and shape as at the same time as independently. Results from numerous studies confirm the advantages of using geometric morphometric methods to study wide range of biological objects. Micro-CT is one of the fast developing non-invasive methods nowadays. The advantages for research are an opportunity to study in great detail external and internal structures of objects and used data in 2-D and 3-D morphometry, while the specimen itself remains untouched. It can be the endless resource for parasitology to study at the same time the host and the parasite inside the host body.
