The upper boundary of deep-water benthic layer (DBL) in the Black Sea is considered. The boundary has been shown to consist of several quasihomogeneous convective layers separated by the high-gradient interlayers. In determining the thermodynamic parameters of the mean DBL the stabilizing effect of Earth rotation was taken into account. The values of temperature drop, the vertical heat and salt exchange coefficients, the mean vertical velocity of stream and its fluctuations are calculated. According to obtained estimates the DBL formation time amounts to 160—250 years.
