У батипелагических рыб — берикса Beryx splendens и угольной рыбы-сабли Aphanopus carbo, выловленных на глубоководных возвышенностях Срединно-Атлантического хребта, в желчном пузыре зарегистрированы миксоспоридии двух новых видов рода Ceratomyxa, отличающихся необычайно крупными для миксоспоридий размерами.

Two new species of myxosporidians of Ceratomyxa genus from the gall bladder oi bathypelagic fishes caught in the Mid-Atlantic Ridge are described. C. maxima sp. n. from Beryx splendens differs from the known representatives of the genus by extremely large spore dimensions. It differs from the most similar C. schulmani Dubina et Isakov, 1976 by the ratio of spore length to its thickness (1: 36—45, and 1: 5—7 in C. schulmani), meristic characters, and vegetative form structure. C. magna sp. n. from the coal sable fish (Aphanopus carbo) differs from C. maxima by the structural features of the central spore, meristic characters, and. another character of vegetative forms. The problem of these species adaptation for the deep water environment is discussed.
