In the NW Black Sea along the longitude transsection 32° 10’ E, the living molluscs Modiolus phaseolinus inhabite the depth 60—120 m. Single individuals are met at the depths down to 140 m. The upper boundary of hydrogen sulphide is at the depth 125—130 m and it is spatially conjugated with the depth boundary of M. phaseolinus occurrence. No influence of methane gas seeps on parameters of M. phaseolinus and environmental quality is registered.
