In experiments on 3 species of Elasmobranchs and 5 species of Teleosts, studies have been made on the content of the main inorganic cations (Na, K, Mg, Ca) in the erythrocytes. It was shown that in all the species studied Na and Mg concentrations exhibit significant individual variations, sodium concentration in the erythrocytes of teleost species being not lower than 0.2 of the amount of intracellular potassium.
