Membranipora zostericola reproducts by means of trochophores; the development of these latter takes place in ethmoidal cells which occupy an intermediate position between zooids and ovicells. The egg fertilized in a zooid penetrates through the interpalp organ into an ethmoidal cell where it develops into the trochophore. In the case of «cell» damage eggs do not die and are able to develop in the external medium. The duration of the trochophore plankton life is not long. The trociophore settled down suffers all changes for one day being transformed into the ancestrula.
