The levels of nitrogen excretion and oxygen uptake are compared in the marine invertebrates: squids, octopuses, isopods, euphausiids and salps. They are expressed by the quantitative exponential equations. Both indexes are in similar dependence on the body mass and animals activity. The ratio between the values of nitrogen excretion and oxygen uptake is calculated and the portion of oxygen spent for protein oxidation is determined.
