Polydora ciliata limicola Annenk., a new species, is found in samples collected in the Sea of Azov in the summer of 1983. Pectinaria koreni Malm., Heteromastus filiformis Clap. and Nereis succinea Leuck. are wide-spread in the Sea of Azov. Eteone picta Quatr. is met rarely and in the smaller area. The greatest species diversity of polychaetes is observed in the south-western part of the sea. Biomass of polychaetes in the studied period mainly does not exceed 10 g/m2 and only in the Arabatian bay and north-eastern region of the sea it exceeds 20 g/m2.
