Succinate dehydrogenase activity was studied in tissues of anchovy, sprats, horse mackerel, mackerel, Diplodus annuralis L. and Spicara smaris L. A clear dependence of the enzymatic activity of tissues on temperature is shown. The red muscles are considerably more active in oxidation of the substrate than the white ones. The investigations showed a close relation between succinate dehydrogenase activity of tissues and their functional peculiarities as well as ecological and physiological characteristics of the fishes.
