The studies made on Black Sea benthos allowed to obtain a description of uneven spatial distribution of species and quantitative structure as observed in regional and local benthic communities of soft bottom deposits. Juvenile macrobenthic organisms were regularly found in the biocenoses, average ratio between their numbers and that of adults has been calculated. Interrelation between the benthal and the pelagial is described that manifests itself as the input of benthic larvae throughout the water depth and the filtering performance of bivalves.
