The highest concentration of DDT (DDT and its metabolites) in the investigated water areas of the Mediterranean Sea was determined at station № 12 in the mouth of the Po river (4,1·10⁻⁶ mg/l), the least concentrations were in the Gulf of Lion and the Ligurian Sea (0,5·10⁻⁶ mg/l and 0,8·10⁻⁶ mg/l, respectively). The defected concentration of DDT in the mouth of the Po river and Ebro were close (4,1·10⁻⁶ and 3,0·1O⁻⁶ mg/l) and three times as high as in the open areas - the Aegean, Ionian, Ligurian Seas and the Gulf of Lion. The fishes catched in the mouth of the Ebro river contained higher concentrations of the organochlorine pesticides (0.0831 mg/kg) than the fishes from the Gulf of Lion (0.0504 mg/kg) and Po river (0.0268 mg/kg).
