The number of dominating species of sea psammophilous infusoria inhabiting a sandy: sublittoral does not depend on the bottom depth within a 2.5-8 m interval. The local horizontal distribution pattern for sublittoral infusoria is similar to that in the littoral. The bottom relief and quantity of diatoms affect the distribution of psammophilous infusoria. There are certain Ciliata in the sand hydrogen-sulphide layer. In the sand thickness the total number of psammophilous infusoria decreases, but larger forms of the infusoria become predominant, especially in shallow water.
