Lipid composition of Azov kilka during the period of spawning and summer feeding have been studied by the method of thin-layer chromatography on “Silufol UI'-254” plates. Significant seasonal and age variability of total lipid content and separate constituents have been shown. Steroid esters consist of two fractions, which are not cholesterol esters. Their concentration had been had been increased during the period spawning. It is suggest that these lipids are reduced metabolites of steroid hormones.
