Morphometric analysis of Hysterothylacium Ward & Magath, 1917 nematodes parasitizing Black Sea fishes revealed three species, H. aduncum sensu stricto, H. bidentatum, and H. fabri. We also identified, using genetic and morphological data, one more species of the genus, the North Atlantic species H. auctum from Ophidion rochei.
