The influence of temperature on the metabolism rate of shrimp P. adspersus at 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 28 and 30°C was investigated. The time of reaching a steady level of metabolism (time of full acclimation) depend on temperature. This time is 1 day at 15—30°, 4—5 days at 10° and 11—12 days at 5°. Dependence of metabolism rate (Q) on the dry body weight (W) may be expressed by equation Q=AWk. The k values vary in limits 0,76—0,87 at 10—18°. It is 1,09 and 0,93 at 30 and 5°. The metabolism rate increases temperature increase from 10 to 28°. The coefficients A and k in the calculations of metabolism rate of shrimps weighting 50, 100, 200, 400 and 600 mg was used. The lineary relation between In Q and l/К° (Arrhenius scale) obtain in 10—28°C only. Our data as well as these from literature demonstrate the markely oscillations the k values at different temperature. This fact may be regarded as a evidence of dependence the Q10 values on the size of animals in the same interval of temperature. Only the data of direct measurements of metabolism of equal-sized animals at different temperature are useful for obtaining the quantitative relation between metabolism and temperature in poikiloterms.
