The advancement of ichthyological studies performed in the Black Sea is overviewed. Special consideration is given to the new trends of research which were initiated as a response to the growing anthropogenic impact upon Black Sea ecosystem and development of new methods for finding out stocks of pelagic fish eggs and larvae and studying their distribution and numbers.
