Gyrodactylus sphinx Dmitrieva et Gerasev, 2000 was found on Salaria pavo (Risso) (Blenniidae) in the Mediterranean Sea off NW Sardinia. This species was previously reported on Aidablennius sphynx (Valenciennes) (Blenniidae) in the Black Sea off Crimea. Thus S. pavo and the Mediterranean Sea are new host and locality records for G. sphinx. The morphometric comparison between specimens of G. sphinx collected in the Mediterranean Sea and those that were sampled in the Black Sea revealed no difference. Nine gyrodactylid species have been found in the Mediterranean Sea up to the present study, and only one of them is also recorded in the Black Sea. Thus, the present finding of G. sphinx off the coast of Sardinia is the tenth species of Gyrodactylus, recorded in the Mediterranean Sea, and the second gyrodactylid species which is found in both seas.

Gyrodactylus sphinx Dmitrieva et Gerasev, 2000 найден на собачке Salaria pavo (Risso) (Blenniidae) в Средиземном море у северо-западного побережья Сардинии. Этот вид был ранее описан от собачки Aidablennius sphynx (Valenciennes) (Blenniidae), выловленной в Черном море у побережья Крыма. Таким образом, S. pavo и Средиземное море - это новый хозяин и новый район регистрации для G. sphinx. Морфометрическое сравнение особей G. sphinx, собранных в Средиземном и Черном морях, не выявило различий. Девять видов гиродактилюсов были известны в Средиземном море до настоящего исследования и только один из них был найден также и в Черном море. Находка G. sphinx у побережья Сардинии - это десятый представитель рода Gyrodactylus в Средиземном море и второй вид, зарегистрированный в обоих морях.
