Some results of food-growth and metabolism experiments are discussed in relation to studies of energy transformation by planktonic and bottom Crustacea. A general equations for food intake of these animals are obtained through use of the relations among body weight, food concentration, and rations value. Some quantitative relations between food consumption and food assimilation were also established. Suitable empirical data shows that absolute quantity of food assimilated, like the ration consumed, increases at increasing of food concentration and tends to some maximum point which may be called the maximum value of assimilation of given type of food by these animals. The metabolism of Crustacea is reflected in the rate of oxygen consumption and in the energy units. The energy expenditure for growth of animals was estimated by experimental data according to weight increase converted to energy units. On the ground of these data was calculated the growth coefficients of the first and of the second order. For investigation of quantitative relationship between food intake, metabolism, and growth efficiency of Crustacea the equations by Winberg, and Paloheimo and Dickie were used.
