| dc.description | The daily zooplankton migration were studied on the western shelf of the Gulf of Mexico. Samples of zooplankton obtained at three daily stations in October 1964 were used for this purpose. The intensity is calculated of the daily vertical migration in this region for both zooplankton as a whole and Copepoda and Ostacoda separately as well as for seven species of Copepods which are often met in this region. It is shown that the intensity of the vertical daily migration of the presented zooplankton complex in total depends on the percentage content of species with different intensity of migration, which are involved in this complex. It is established that in the region under investigation side by side with the vertical migration zooplankton undergoes during a day periodical variations in quantity in the whole thickness of water which evidence for its horizontal migration and for periodic change in the direction of this migration. A conclusion is made on the connection of this phenomenon with the tidal and ebb currents. The qualitative analysis of the data showed that the percentage ratio of neritic and oceanic species in the samples may be an indicator of the littoral water penetration into the oceanic zone and vice versa. The species Oncaea curta is considered as a possible indicator of littoral waters und species Calocalanus pavo and Corycella gracilis — as indicators of oceanic waters. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | На материале из Мексиканского залива, полученного во время Советско-Кубинской морской экспедиции 1964-1965 гг. на трех суточных станциях, изучались суточные перемещения зоопланктона на западном шельфе залива. Рассчитана интенсивность вертикальной суточной миграции как для всего зоопланктона в целом, так и для отдельных групп и видов. Установлено, что в исследуемом районе наряду с вертикальной миграцией зоопланктон испытывает в течение суток периодические горизонтальные перемещения, связанные, по-видимому, с приливно-отливными явлениями. Рассматриваются некоторые виды копепод как индикаторы прибрежных и океанических вод. | en_US |
