The microrelief of the cycloid scale surface has been studied in 12 fish species. The longitudinal relief is described on the scale which has the character of flow hollows acting as a laminarisator. The function of sclerite system on the elasmoid fish scale is analyzed and its constructive and hydrodynamical significance is noted. Sclerite-epithelial complex on the surface of elasmoid scale is considered as a dempfing system. Mechanisms of dempfing systems are compared in fishes with elasmoid scale and cetaceans; similarities and dissimilarities of these systems are noted.
