Abstract
Description
In August 1960 in the Barentz Sea the mass invasion of Sagitta elegans arctica Aurivillus by sexually mature trematodes, possibly Derogeres varicus Luhe, 1900, was registered. 20-40 per cent of all the individuals of Sagitta were infected. All parasites contained usually several hundreds of eggs. Many eggs were layed into the host’s body cavity. The development of maritae, D. varicus in Sagitta is regarded as a result of widening of specificity of this parasite according to the tendency to progenetic development.
