Importance of concepts proposed by V.A. Vodyanitsky is explored with regard to development of mariculture on the Black Sea. With enhancing eutrophication, growing and harvesting huge biomass of marine organisms is the only way to sustain the environmental and fishery potential. A complex approach to study of species biology and ecology has been used to work out the technologies for farming mussels and fish fry (Black Sea turbot).
