Description
At present oil and oil products are the major toxicants entering marine environment. Of peculiar interest is the oil impact on the primary production link in sea.
Great discrepancy is marked in separate microscopical alga species sensitivity to the oil — and oil products — polluted sea water. These substances lethal concentrations are distinguished for separate species in several thousands times. Oil causes injury to plankton alga generations development.
Considerably diluting oils products till concentrations of 10-4 to 10-5 ml/I in sea water, the oil may increase division tempo in some microscopical alga species. However the fact of separate phytoplankton species reproduction under pollution effect may not still serve as the usefulness criterium of this phenomenon for species or plankton organisms communities and moreover for the aquarium viability (sea, gulf, bay) on the whole.
