Abstract
Description
Plerocercoids of Pyramicocephalus phocarum were studied by transmission, scanning, confocal microscopy, experimental infection and molecular systematic methods. Analysis of gene sequence shows that our samples belong to family Diphyllobothriidae and don't have any overlaps with the GeneBank. We chose four golden hamsters (Mesocricetus auratus) for experimental infection. In the course of it we were feeding the hamster with fresh plerocercoids for a long time but did not found eggs and adult cestodes in the feces or hamsters' body. We were able to establish the structural elements of surface of the cestode, such as microtriches or bothria and thin structure of scolex tegument. We reconstructed an architecture of plerocercoird's nervous system. There is one pair of neuropils, dorsal, ventral and lateral nerves and cortical nervous plexus in the scolex. Also, elements of the excretory and secretory system in the cross-section were found and described.
