The positive relation of energy metabolism and nitrogen (protein) catabolism in juveniles of Black Sea mussels Mytilus galloprovincialis is found (r = 0.9). Rates of the nitrogen excretion are connected with a season temperature change of sea water, the coefficient Q10 in the range 6-13 °C was 1.56; coefficient Q10 in the range 13-23 °C — 1.60. Extreme temperatures of water resulted in a change of the type of energy metabolism with the predominance of protein catabolism.
