It is shown that the body of nectonic animals, such as fishes, Cetacea, Pinnipedia, Cheloniidae etc creates vertical hydrodynamic forces when the animal is moving in the direction of its longitudinal axis. These forces neutralize the action of forces of the gravity (at negative buoyancy) or hydrostatic forces (at positive buoyancy). The vertical forces contribute to the maintenance of the animal in water in suspended state. The effect of the creation of vertical hydrodynamic forces by the body of nectonic animals was modelled in experiments on fishes, whales, seals, tortoises etc.
