The paper is concerned with data on the benthos development in the coastal region of Yalta in 1969 (the period of wastes discharge) and in 1982 (six years after discharge cessation). Species composition has slightly changed: the species community coefficients were high (up to 50). Density of the benthos population has got 1.5-3 times higher and biomass — 13-28 times higher. The Venis gallina community typical of pure waters has formed in the coastal zone at depth of 10-20 m. Judging from the composition and quantitative development of the benthos the saprobility degree in the studied region has decreased.
