Abstract
Представлены данные по размерному и возрастному составу, размножению, росту, продолжительности жизни и питанию O. pteropus. Выделены три биологически специфичные популяции. Сделана попытка объяснить закономерные изменения размеров кальмаров действием различных форм естественного отбора.
Description
Described species occupies the predominating position amongst other edible Cephalopods of the Tropical Atlantic Epipelagial. Within its large range of occurence it is presented by a number of biologically specific populations with their morphological, physiological and ecological peculiarities. Localization of the accumulation spots fairly depends on the oceanographic conditions: through the year they move along the African shore, keeping the water temperature within 18-21°C range. At the equatoriai area the productivity rate is constant through all the seasons.
