Results of the assessment of doses derived by representative species of the Black Sea hydrobionts from 210Po irradiation are presented. The dose values are decreased from mollusks and fishes to algae. The highest dose levels in the investigated organisms are significantly lower than the known limits accepted for the protection of the population of aquatic organisms against ionizing irradiation. The study was carried out in the framework of IAEA Technical Co-operative project RER/2003 “Marine Environmental Assessment in the Black Sea Region”.
