A procedure is proposed for computation of determinative plates of the biological objects. This approach is based on the socalled electronic determinative plates which combine the methods applied in artificial intelligence (expert systems) and pattern recognition. The data about experimental exploitation of some determinative plates (fishes and some orders of higher crustaceans in the Black Sea) computed with IBM PC/AT are adduced.
