У рыбы-сабли, выловленной в Индийском океане и доставленной в лабораторию паразитологии Института биологии южных морей АН УССР в замороженном состоянии, были найдены миксоспоридии рода Kudoa (Kudoidae), оказавшиеся представителями нового для науки вида.

Kudoa mirabilis sp.n. from the muscle of the ribbon-fish Trichiurus haumela from the Indian Ocean (the Yemen coast) is described. This species differs from K. cruciformum, K. histolytica, K. thyrsites by the form of spores, the relative size of larger polar capsule and the peculiarities of the position of polar filament in the capsules (the polar filament of the larger polar capsule forms the loop, and of the smaller capsules — 4 coils). The parasite causes the hystolis of the fish muscle.
