The conditions of growth and fattening in the warm Mediterranean Sea are better for phsychrophilic sprats than for thermophilic fishes similar in biology (for example anchovy). The most favourable conditions for fattening were observed in 1976 when the sprats fatness reached 28% of the body mass.
