Helminthological material was collected from the food Pinnipedia on the Chuckchee Sea coast in 1904 and trichinellosis was found in one of eight walrus tested (Odobaenus rosmarus diver gens). Larvae of Trichinella spiralis were found in the diaphragm musclation in capsules of a size 0.434 X 0.108 mm. Trichinellosis in Pinnipedia was not registered in the Soviet Union waters. Trichinellosis was also registered in polar foxes (Alopex lagopus) fed on the meat of the sea animals. Taking in account the urgent problem of trichinellosis in the Arctic, it is necessary to double veterinary and medical control for meat used for food.
