Half of the giant oysters Crassostrea gigas (Thunberg, 1793) examined from the marine farms located in the lake Donuzlav in the summer of 2018, was infected by the shell-boring polychaete Polydora websteri Hartman in Loosanoff & Engle, 1943. The maximum numbers of cavities bored by polychaete reached 7 per one clam. One-two blisters, having square from 1 to 4.4 cm², were found in infected oysters, they were filled with mud and contained living worms. The maximum numbers of polydores in one blister was 4. The infection intensity was 1.9 and abundance – 1.1 individual per clam. The dependence of the prevalence of polydores on oyster size was revealed. Such infection indices indicate a strong level of infection of investigated oysters by P. websteri.
