История первой в Российской империи морской биологической станции в Севастополе неразрывна связана с развитием научного флота: от бота «Александр Ковалевский» до НИС «Профессор Водяницкий». Показана широкая география экспедиционной деятельности сотрудников, отраженная в коллекциях станции и многочисленных публикациях. Накопленные знания не только интересны в научном плане, но и имеют историческое значение для будущих поколений.

The history of the first marine biological station in the Russian Empire in Sevastopol is firmly connected with the development of the scientific fleet: from the boat ALEXANDER KOVALEVSKY to the R/V PROFESSOR VODYANITSKY. A review of scientific literature, archival documents, photo and video materials related to the development of the scientific fleet of the first marine biological station in Russian Empire, located in Sevastopol is presented. The broad geography of the marine expeditions is shown, reflected in numerous publications and collections. The accumulated knowledge is interesting not only in term of science, but it also has got a great historical significance for future generations.
